Study Universe ~1.5 Million IMSS beneficiaries in Michoacan
Collection Period January 2006 - December 2017

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Male and female patients aged ≥ 20 years.
  • Cases: Confirmed diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
  • Controls: No confirmed diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
  • Beneficiaries assigned to 8 participating Family Medicine Units (Michoacán).
  • Active records between Jan 10, 2006, and Dec 31, 2017.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients with no records in the SIMF system.
  • Inconsistent records preventing longitudinal traceability.

Bioethics

The protocol was approved by the National Research Committee and the National Research Ethics Committee of the Health Research Coordination of the IMSS.
